Privacy Policy
CDEN (Community of Disabled Entrepreneurs in Canada), operated by Cden org, respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the CDEN website and platform.
We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Depending on where you live, provincial privacy laws may also apply, including Quebec's Law 25.
Who we are
CDEN is a community-first platform that connects disabled entrepreneurs across Canada with mentors, funding information, cohorts, and events. If you have questions about this policy, contact our privacy officer at contactus@enabledfoundation.org.
Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address, and the password you set when you create an account.
Profile and matching information. Details you give us to match you with mentors, cohorts, and funding, such as your sector, stage, province or territory, and any lived experience you choose to share.
Activity information. Records of your use of the platform, such as sessions booked, cohorts joined, funding programs saved, and events viewed.
Communications. Messages you send to us or through the platform, and your preferences for notifications.
Technical information. Basic device and usage data collected automatically, such as browser type and pages visited, through cookies and similar tools. See "Cookies" below.
We only collect what we need to run the platform and provide the services you ask for. Sharing lived experience is always your choice.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
Create and manage your account.
Match you with mentors, cohorts, and funding programs that fit your profile.
Track funding deadlines and send you reminders you opt into.
Send you service messages, and marketing only where you have consented.
Improve the platform and understand how it is used.
Keep the platform secure and meet our legal obligations.
Consent
We collect and use your information with your consent. You give consent when you create an account, complete your profile, or use a feature. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us, though some features may not work without the information they rely on.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations: Mentors and cohort members. When you are matched, the relevant profile details are shared so mentoring and cohort support can happen. You control what you add to your profile. Service providers. We use trusted providers to host and run the platform (for example, our hosting and email services). They may only use your information to provide services to us. Legal reasons. Where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of CDEN, our members, or the public. Business changes. If CDEN is involved in a merger, acquisition, or transfer, your information may be part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
Third-party services and international transfers
Some of our providers may store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of those countries. We take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected to a standard comparable to Canadian law.
Data retention
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required by law. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to respond quickly if a problem occurs.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
- Withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual limits.
- Ask us to delete your account and associated information.

Cookies
We use cookies and similar tools to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some features may not work properly if you disable them.
Children
CDEN is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under [18]. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a revised date, and where the change is significant we will give notice through the platform.
